FUNCTIONS IN THE MIND AND BRAIN MECHANISMS

Workshop: Functions in the mind and brain mechanisms

Workshop time and location:

Mai 19 - 20 , 2014, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany, Schloss Mickeln

Thematic overview:

Under the influence of both theoretical and empirical advances, the main concerns in the philosophy of cognitive sciences have evolved over the last twenty years, stepping progressively away from the discussion of generic relations between mental and physical properties as ontological dependency or realization and focus instead on the individuation of specific cognitive functions and their explanation by neurobiological mechanisms. The two-day workshop aims to explore the contribution of altered cognition to neuroscientific inquiries, especially to the individuation of cognitive functions, models of cognitive architecture and brain mechanisms.

Workshop venue:

Schloß Mickeln, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf
